White Christmas...Lovely as a Tree class

WHITE CHRISTMAS ~ LOVELY AS A TREE

I have just finished creating my sample cards for my next card making class
we will be using the fabulous "Lovely as a Tree" stamp set
This was the very first Stampin' Up set I ever bought and I still love it
here's the first card which is embossed using the
Woodlands Embossing Folder...
Can you see those amazing birch trees embossed onto the white card?
The finished card feels luxurious with all that fabulous texture.
I enjoyed designing this card so much
because I know my card making class will love to create it too.

At my classes everything is supplied to create 2 fabulous cards
all the card stock will be cut and scored ready in a kit
along with any embelishments needed
The cardmaker will get to use the stamp sets and the inks
to create their own card
(other classes may have the use of punches or dies etc)
If you are a beginner dont worry I will give you all the help needed
if you are a seasoned card-maker there is always room
to come enjoy the fun and maybe add your own spin on the kit provided!
At the end of the day its a
Christmas Card Making Class
YES YES YES!
but its also about getting together with others
and having fun creating cards together!
I will be demonstrating another card
showing how to change it up a little
and then will show another couple of samples to give some more idea's
after all who wants to buy a stamps set and make just one card?
not me! I like to get a lot of use for my money!

Flower Shop Cardmaking Class Report

I shared that I was holding an "Open Sentiments" card making class on Sunday
I am extremely happy to report that this class was a real winner!
the ladies loved the products I used
and of course their handmade cards....

We made cards featuring the Flower Shop stamp set
along with the co-ordinating Pansy punch...

we also used the Petite Petals stamp set
and the co-ordinating punch

we also used the fern and the butterfly from Butterfly Basics Calypso Coral card

The dies we used were Lots of Labels Framelits

and we used the new Sparkle embossing folder on the first card too!

Each person was supplied with the basic kit of all the card and DSP pieces ready cut
The participants used the stamps and punches to create and cut their flowers
choosing which flowers they preferred for the first card.
(there are 6 different flowers to choose from in each set)
here's some of the cards made...
The cardstock on this was Blushing Bride with Sweet Sugar Plum

The kits included buttons rhinestones embellishments for the finishing touches.

Although both cards are loosely based on the same sketch
I showed how just making a few changes can change up a card completely.
the cards stock on this is Crumb Cake with Calypso Coral DSP
taken from the Subtles designer series paper stack.

I love how your personal preferences makes your card your very own
even when using the same kit as the the other participants
it's all about finding what your preferences are
and enjoying the creative process
of making something that makes you smile
and of course the person you give it to

Well done to my card class attendees
and thanks for making me smile too xx

or any other questions about classes etc

Flowers are Fabulous!

I am looking forward to my card making class this afternoon
it's being held at 2pm
we will make 2 cards featuring the flower shop and petite petals stamp sets
 along with their co-ordinating punches

Did you know that over 75% of shop bought cards feature flowers
either as a main focus or to accent other images?
just browse through a card shop to see how widely flowers are used!

here's some quick pics of the 2 cards I will demonstrate today...
This one is based on the Calypso Coral colours using dsp from the subtles stack collection,
The great thing about our dsp (designer series paper!) is that it's double sided
I cant wait to see which side my ladies use and how they choose to make their cards!
All of my classes include a kit to create my 2 cards
but the participant is free to either copy my cards exactly
or use the kit how they want to
its about finding your own style
Everyone is different and that's what I love
it never ceases to amaze me how a group of people can be using the same kit
same stamps punches dies embellishments
yet still create items which differ from the next person
no matter how experienced they are at card making
they make their card their own!
change up the dsp for a piece of blushing bride card
emboss it with an embossing folder cut a banner tail
and add a paper doily..... afew more slight changes like bling instead of buttons,
and stamped small leaves from flourishing phrases stamp set
and the card looks totally different
contact me for details of future classes
Christmas will be a major focus in November
I have some great classes planned

Wow that was FUN

I held my first card making class on Wednesday
I loved it !
We made cards with a Stampin' Up Christmas set I have fallen in love with.....
The Stampin' Up Star of Light bundle
Which includes the photo-polymer stamps and co-ordinating thinlit dies (saving 10%)
although anyone can buy just the stamps or just the thinlit dies.

I made 3 samples for the class
but the photo's need taking again so will edit this post over the weekend,

however hear are some group photo's of the cards made...
The colourway was silver (foil and glitter paper) whisper white and Night of Navy
we used the flat die cut star as the base in silver glitter
then used white n sliver filigree star die cuts on top as we desired!
We used the 3d solid star cut from the thinlits dies as a base
then added other die cuts from the filigree star dies too
The colours on the 2nd card were
Real Red, Gold (foil and glitter paper) with cream card
(participants used some non Stampin' Up die cuts for sentiments too)!

have you spotted something else we used?
can you see those borders?
they were created using the Stampin up stars border punch
This is the first Stampin' Up border punch I have ever bought
and I am so happy with it
The wonderful thing is how easy it is to line up your card for continuous punching
and a by-product is that you get loads of little punch out stars!
which can be saved for those shaker cards we love making
I know this is gonna be used a lot through out the year
so you could say we were all seeing stars lol

The ladies were thrilled with their creations and we had a lovely evening
one lady had never stamped before, another worried it would be too complicated
but they went home smiling because they had made lovely cards
and learned new techniques too
it was like having an evening out it was that relaxed and enjoyeable.

my next class will be all about taking a general card and changing it up
with different sentiments for different occasions!
I will be demonstrating the
Flower Shop and Petite Petals stamp sets with their co-ordinating punches
and the use of lots of sentiments from my stamp sets.

I just cannot wait to share some more of what I love doing

My November classes will be concentrating mainly on Christmas cards
I have some fun fun fun cards and traditional cards too
I have planned some great techniques to learn too!

If you would like more details of my classes
which are held at 'r Tilly sta Andrews rd South, St. Annes, Lancashire.
or have any questions about Stampin' Up products
please contact me, I don't bite lol

Crochet Star Baby Blanket

I found a star blanket pattern online which was for a 12 point star blanket
it wasnt long before I realised the pattern wasnt working for me
the work in progress was bunching up and wouldnt lay flat
i didn't like it
I really wanted to make a star blanket for a baby boy who is due any day now
the solution was to design my own 8 point blanket which turned out quite pleasing....
After creating this I decided to start another for my granddaughter Thea
this time I created it with a ridge which kinda defines the pattern more
I am liking this one even more, cant wait to show you when it's done.
and see our Thea trying it out!
I will be writing up the pattern soon
when I finish the pink blanket for our Thea
the pattern will be available in my Etsy store in November

let me know what you think, its still a work in progress!
